We all have made several attempts at building a resume for the dream job or any job that we want to apply for. The most difficult part in doing that is knowing where and how to start. Resumes have also evolved in the recent times. Two page elaborate CVs no longer cut ice with recruiters. Increasingly recruiters have also started looking at social profiles to evaluate a candidate over and above the one page word document.

Amidst all of this, I came across this resume which was shared on LinkedIn by the Founder and CEO of  this company called Lookup – A local shopping network which surprisingly has 1 – 5 million downloads on Google Play Store. They had also raised funding last year – Read here

This unknown person wanted to catch attention of the recruiter and managed to do more than that.

What do we know? What have we learnt?

The above resume is a masterstroke at a lot of levels and any recruiter who hires this person must be lucky to have him/her on board. In the pursuit of the job, the candidate managed to teach a lesson or two for budding marketers out there.

  1. Finding exactly what the need of the hour is – marketing is all about timing
  2. Choosing the right medium to communicate your message
  3. Going out there with the most precise targeting there is
  4. Communicating in a tone that strikes a chord with the consumer
  5. Giving a relevant call to action and reason enough to click

A similar attempt was earlier made by an IITian to get a job in Flipkart by putting himself on Sale on the shopping website. I guess it is time to rethink our CVs to stand out from the crowd. Source
